Constitutional Amendment

No. (Hell no. It's worded like a rainbow-covered fjord-side Nordic village near sunset with waterfalls, cows in the glen, and light smoke wafting from the chimneys of quaint houses under attack by dragons but better to have legislators deciding their compensation while fearing the electorate than empowering an undefined uncontrolled unaccountable committee of trolls spending our money without consequence nor review innocently described as independent citizens. This parenthetical editorial not the result of committee discussion; just the sender of this note.)

What non-judicial legal experience qualifies Craig Monnier to be a judge? ... Why is Craig Monnierrunnning for this particular court seat? What non-judicial legal experience qualifies Craig Monnier to be a judge?
“ I have represented people from all walks of life, in good times and bad, and understand intimately the pressures and difficulties these people experience as they move through the judicial system. ”

Why is Craig Monnier runnning for this particular court seat?
“ I believe it is of utmost importance the people who find themselves interacting with the judicial system have confidence the judge and judicial system are treating them fairly, regardless of their station in life or political affiliation. ”

Craig Monnier's primary concern regarding today's judicial system in Minnesota.
    The "Old Boy Establishment".

"I pledge to the voters of the Third Judicial District, that if elected, I will call balls and strikes right down the middle, regardless of who they are or who they are associated with.”

  1.  3rd Judicial District candidate Craig Monnier thinks a challenger’s chances are better against a judge who hasn’t gone before voters previously, which is why he decided to take on incumbent Jeffrey Kritzer, who was appointed to bench by Dayton in 2014.
“I don’t want to point fingers. I’m sure my opponent is a wonderful, God-fearing fellow but the whole point of having an election is that the person who stands for election is accountable,” said Monnier, a self-described small town attorney with a practice that runs the gamut from DWI defense to estate planning to divorces.
As a first-time candidate, Monnier said, he is self-funding so he is keeping spending at a minimum and trying to make up with it by speaking to as many community groups as he can to get his message out.
“I can’t predict what’s going to happen. We may get beat by a million votes,” Monnier added. “But it’s been more enjoyable than I thought it would be.”

http://www.postbulletin.com/news/local/state-board-reprimands-wabasha-county-judge/article_de11e9ab-e1ee-515b-9a09-1b127cafce74.html

WABASHA — Wabasha County Judge Terrence Walters was reprimanded Tuesday by the Minnesota Board on Judicial Standards for four transgressions, including being discourteous to a psychologist attempting to evaluate a deaf defendant... Walters has been ordered to apologize, find a mentor and attend anger management classes, among other things.

...
According to the seven-page public reprimand posted on the Board's website, Judge Walters was reprimanded for: Failure to supervise law clerk and approval of inaccurate timesheets, refusal to allow defendant to withdraw plea, trying defendant in absentia and discourtesy to psychologist.

The first reprimand states that Judge Walters' law clerk "consistently did not have enough work to do" and "regularly failed to work full eight-hour days" by not coming in when Judge Walters was presiding in another county or on leave [when the cat is away the mouse plays ]the clerk was paid for 257.75 hours he did not work over a 24-week period, though he has since repaid the state. Judge Walters signed the timecards.

Judge Walters also violated the Rules of Criminal Procedure at a May 1, 2012, sentencing when he refused to allow a defendant to withdraw his plea.

On April 5, 2013, Judge Walters found a defendant guilty at a trial in which he failed to appear. That ruling was later dismissed when it became clear the Minnesota Code of Judicial Conduct had been violated numerous times.

The final reprimand stems from an April 16, 2012, incident in which Judge Walters implied that a psychologist was likely to engage in unprofessional conduct if allowed to evaluate a deaf defendant. The psychologist reported being "offended" by the implication and withdrew from further involvement in the case.
